Have you checked the subscriptions under account #2 to make sure the gold wasn't actually purchased under that account instead?

It sounds like you moved the Live account, which had Xbox Live Gold and your various games, to Xbox #2 and set that new console as the Live account's Home Xbox. If that is the case, then users on Xbox #1 would not be able to access that content unless the Live account was signed into Xbox #1.
You should also verify which account has the Xbox Live Gold subscription. On the Microsoft account page, look at Services & Subscriptions for each account (Live and Gmail) and see which has the subscription.

Hello Tannen,
Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. For this to work successfully you have all profiles added to both consoles which is great. On Xbox #2 you need to make account #1 home console. This will allow the sharing of the content on Xbox #2. Then on Xbox #1 your son will be able to play on account #1 and still play the games. On Xbox #2 you can play on account #2 and should have gold and have access to all games without account #1 being signed in on Xbox #2.
Here is a link for home console set up: https://support.xbox.com/games/game-setup/my-home-xbox
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Brad

You can only share Gold with one console. Your xbl id is sharing Gold which is on your account (with sons id). The xbox one must be set up as the home console for the main account with your sons id. And xbox 2 stays signed in with main account at all times. The second one doesn't your xbl id account at all. I hope this makes sense.

Right now here's how the HOME Console settings are designated.
Xbox #1
Acct #1 (@live.com) set to HOME console.
Xbox #2
Acct #2 (@gmail.com) is set to HOME console.
Should the HOME option be set for both accounts on the same Xbox?
So from what you have above -- have HOME doubled on Xbox #2?
Thanks for all the help everyone! This is making my head hurt!

So does this mean I have to buy 2 separate Xbox Live Gold subscriptions? I've read about the family option(s) however I don't want it setup like that. I'd prefer to keep both accounts on their own.

Based on what you described earlier, Account 1 owns all the content. So, with that in consideration:
Anyone who signs into Xbox #1 can play any content that Account 1 owns and use its Gold subscription, even if Account 1 is signed in elsewhere.
When Account 1 is signed into Xbox #2, anyone can play that content or use that subscription, but if Account 1 signs into another console, even Xbox #1, that access on Xbox #2 is lost.
If Account 2 wants to be able to access Xbox Live Gold features, it will either need to (1) sign into Xbox #1 or (2) have its own Gold subscription on Xbox #2.

What experience do you have with Game Sharing? Digital Downloads makes sense to me however how does it work with a physical disc? We messed around with the Black Ops IIII disc last night & what's odd is there are times the game will run without the disc being in the drive.
From now on we'll just have to buy online/MP games via digital download.

The game disc is your proof of purchase and license for the game. It is required to be in the disc drive of the console that is playing the game. Home Xbox does not affect disc-based titles.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for posting how you have it set right now. Xbox #2 you will need to set account #1 as home. Then account #2 will be able to access this content on that console. On Xbox #1, account #1 will be able to access all the content, but account #2 will not be able to on Xbox #1. So best way to make this work is whoever plays on account #2 will play on Xbox #2 and whoever uses account #1 will play on Xbox #1.
Hope this clarifies it little better.
Brad
